Neimenggu is short for Inner Mongolia Autonomous region.The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, bordering to the north with both the Republic of Mongolia and Russia, is the widest province in China (by its latitude). Datong is a famous historical and cultural city. It was the capital of the Northern Wei Dynasty (386AD - 494 AD). These grottoes are the main reason most people make it to Datong. The grottoes contain over 50,000 Buddihist statues and stretch for about 1 km east to west.

Luoyang has rich historical and cultural sites. The Longmen Grottoes are one of China's three most precious treasure houses of stone sculptures and inscriptions.
