Bamei Village

The Bamei Village is located on the common boundary of Ake Village and Bada Village in the north of the Guangnan County,Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. It belongs to the Karst topography. The Village is surrounded by green mountains, and through the Village runs all the year round a clear river which is called Tuoniang River. The most interesting thing about the village is that people have to go through a deep and sombrous karst cave by boat whenever they want go in and out.
The Bamei Village is one for the Zhuang People where there only live more than 100 families and 600 villagers. The villagers here belong to the Sha branch of the aboriginal Zhuang. The folkways here are plain and simple. The villagers are honest, frank and kind-hearted. Whoever come and tour here would receive warm welcome: both young and old villagers would sing and dance all the way; if you go into the house of the villagers, they would take out the best brawn, fresh vegetables and Babao Rice of Zhuang people which is in fact colourful sticky rice to entertain the guests.

Bamei Village has not only unique folk customs of minorities, but also extremely beautiful sights. After making a triangular river beach in the center of the Bamei Village, the Tuoniang River breaks into two rivers, the Man’s River and the Woman’s River, and they continue to run to the east. In hot summer, the two rivers become the places where men and women have a bath. They put off the clothes wet with sweat in the dense bamboo woods, and jump into the refrigerant water. it is really pleasing. If you don’t want to swim, you can see the villagers catching fish from the river bank. When catching fish, local people like building the “fish dam”, and then cast the net here and there. When the fish in the water get to know it, they have already swum into the fishing bags of the villagers. What’s more, it is also interesting to go to the houses of the local people and see them spin with the age-old spinning wheels.
